Mohbad: My mother is against my returning to Nigeria yet — Bella Shmurda

Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, better known as Bella Shmurda, a Nigerian singer, has said that his mother advised him not to go back to Nigeria right now after the passing of Promise IleriOluwa Aloba, well known as Mohbad, a dear friend and fellow musician.

On Saturday, September 23, 2023, Bella Shmurda revealed this at a candlelight movement in Canada in memory of the late Mohbad.

According to SAVIBES247, Mohbad, a former Malian Records signee, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Fans and celebrities are demanding an investigation into the circumstances of his death after his demise devastated the Nigerian music industry.

Bella Shmurda spoke to the rest of the audience, saying, “This person is my brother, he’s my guy, he’s my best friend. It’s so sad that when I left Nigeria, like two or three days after, I got a call that Mohbad was dead, it was so funny.

“Even my mum had to call me, ‘Bella don’t come home yet, stay put there’. I understand what she’s saying. RIP Mohbad, God bless you wherever you are, even in your grave. I don’t know what to say, just thank you everybody for coming and #JusticeForMohbad,”
