South African singer, songwriter, and performer Amanda Benedicta Antony, better known by her stage name Amanda Black, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Antony on July 24, 1993, in the Eastern Cape. Her music is Afro-Soul, which combines elements of hip-hop, soul, and R&B. She sings in both English and her native Xhosa language. Amanda rose to fame in 2016 thanks to the success of her track “Amazulu,” which earned her several nominations. The song gained quick popularity throughout Africa and on the continents of Europe, North America, and South America.
Early Beginning
Originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, Amanda Black later relocated to Butterworth, where she spent her formative years. The vocalist is Xhosa by descent.
